Jim Walmsley is perhaps the world’s best ultrarunner today, having set amazing course records at Western States 100 and recently he also set a new World Record on 50 miles when he ran on 4h 50min 8sec.
We met him the day after his win at Ultravasan 90k in Sweden.
Walmsley was thrillingly close to breaking Jonas Buud’s course record set in 2015, but in the end he missed the record by just 2 minutes and 20 seconds.
In this episode, Johnny and Jim talk a lot about the Why and how it affects you when you don’t have it in place or know it as clearly as you’d like to. Jim tells us about why he started running in the first place, and how running has helped him through a rough patch in his life. They also talk about Jim’s story with Western States 100, and why trail ultras are becoming increasingly popular as opposed to track- or roadracing.
